How to Stay Fit and Healthy While Working As A Freelancer
“Fitness is not about being better than someone else. It’s about being better than you used to be.”
Your fitness has to face challenge, when you are a freelancer. If you are working from home, it is easy to forget about your health. You can get stuck at your job for hours and spend the whole day in front of the computer. It is very easy at that time to forget about eating right or doing exercise. After that, when you finally reach your off-hours, it can become extremely persuasive for you to go on in the mode of hibernation and sink into the sofa or watching television. It is important for freelancers to remember that staying fit means staying in the game. You need to keep in mind that if you get sick, you will not able to work, and you don't get paid. It can become a “lose-lose condition”, in which you wouldn’t want to find yourself in.
Now let's talk about the ways in which you can stay healthy as a freelancer and develop a successful career.
Develop a plan
"A goal without a plan is just a wish."
If you desire to remain fit as a freelancer, you have to figure out what you actually want to do. Do you want to work out at home or are you inclined towards gymming? Do you like keeping meal plans and setting aside time to cook or do you have a plan for dining out? If you work in a co-working space or a coffee shop nearby, you should join yoga classes or a gym near to your working place. The major advantage of freelancing is that you can do pretty much anything as you want. So, just make a proper fitness plan and stick to it.
Make your timing schedule
“The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule but schedule your priorities”_ Stephen Covey
One of the best things about freelancing is that you can have full control over your schedule. You have the authority to select what time of the day you can go to the gym or take your lunch, dinner, and snack breaks. If you are a night bird and like to work during the night, then you can have ample time during the day time. You can start exercising early in the morning. It is the best time for a workout and most of all it causes no harm to your other tasks as well.
Be reasonable
“I make no apologies for being reasonable”_ Barack Obama
When people have so much freedom, they can easily let themselves go. If you are a freelancer, you may think that you can drink as much coffee or soda as you like or you can eat as many chips or chocolates as you want. If you desire to stay fit, don't make friendship with junk foods. In order to have a healthy body, you must have to find the perfect balance between your work and eating habits and take good care of yourself.
Remain motivated
After working 10 hours in front of the computer, it is hard to concentrate on physical exercise. Hence, pushing yourself to exercise every morning or evening can require an extra bit of effort. Physical exercise can make your body fit, mind fresh. With a fresh and happy mind, you will be able to motivate yourself to work hard. "Run faster, eat better, sleep longer, try harder, aim higher, love more and day by day get happier." If you don't like working out or having trouble in motivating yourself to go to the gym, you can use a simple alternative. You need to move around for a few minutes at a set interval throughout the day. You can go for a walk with your dog or you can do skipping in your yard. All these physical activities can help you to stay fit.
Take short brakes
“We spend our lives searching for meaning. Take a break. Let it find you”_ Dan Mccoy
Short breaks can be useful for a freelancer as well. Taking a break at regular intervals can allow your brain, fingers and eyes to rest. It will enable you to come back with a fresh brain, mind and a fresh pair of eyes. If you are not able to stick to a balanced diet, give some effort to add some recipes that you love, in your menu. You can eat your favorite fruits and can make a good stock of salads or veggies. If you have yummy food on your menu, you will look forward to having your meal. Then you will never skip your meals and turn yourself into junk food lovers.
It may seem that freelancing and fitness never seem to fit together, but they actually do. Freelancing gives you the opportunity to make your exercise plan accordingly. Take advantage of that flexibility, become healthier and fruitful as a freelancer.
